Our one day conference at NYU brought together scholars working at the interface of visuality and print cultures. The time period under consideration was broadly defined, ranging from post-WWII modernism in conjunction with anticolonial movements to present modernity with its continuing processes of decoloniality. A rich range of topics encompassed comics and graphic narratives, book art, film adaptation, and the processes of making visible. For a more detailed description of individual presentations, please see the conference report.
